Job Summary

Geisinger Laboratory seeks pathologist who is board-eligible/board-certified in Cytopathology and Molecular Genetic Pathology (MGP).

Job Duties


•    Integrated pathology services within Geisinger practice in a sub-specialty model 
•    Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine academic appointment and research opportunities, including Geisinger’s MyCode program
•    Extensive panel of immunohistochemical stains and advanced ancillary testing including organ-specific NGS testing performed in-house  
•    Teaching responsibilities include medical students, pathology residency, and a well-established cytopathology fellowship program 
•    Annual volumes: 
    Cytopathology: 98,000 surgical pathology cases, 45,000 cytopathology cases including 15,000 Non-GYN and 30,000 GYN Pap tests 
    Molecular pathology: 38,000 annual molecular tests in oncology, genetics, and infectious diseases. Over 2,400 Next-generation sequencing (NGS) tests in oncology and genetics
•    47 pathologists and PhDs on staff, including 9 cytopathologists and 3 MGP-boarded molecular pathologists 
•    Dedicated Fine Needle Aspiration Services for pathologist-performed FNAs at three hospital sites. All sites support rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE) with use of telecytology. 
•    Quality management with fully automated real-time dashboards

Geisinger Medical Center (GMC), the largest tertiary/quaternary care teaching hospital in the region, is licensed for 475 beds, including 89 pediatric beds in the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital. GMC, a Magnet Hospital, maintains the region’s only Level 1 Regional Resource Trauma Center with additional qualifications in pediatrics. GMC offers an array of highly specialized medical and surgical services, including neurosciences, cardiovascular services, transplantation, women’s health (in the Women’s Pavilion), oncology and orthopaedics.
