GI/Liver Pathologist
Job Summary
The Department of Laboratory Medicine at Geisinger is seeking an experienced, AP or AP/CP boarded pathologist with subspecialty expertise in GI/Liver due to growth in the system.
Job Duties
Geisinger’s core laboratory is a state-of-the-art facility located in Danville, PA with a pathology residency program (AP/CP), fellowship programs in cytopathology, dermatopathology, molecular genetics, informatics, and a new fellowship in GI/Liver pathology
Laboratory Medicine performs approximately 10 million billable clinical tests, >100,000 surgical cases, and >36,000 GI/Liver cases yearly
Professional staff includes 50 pathologists and PhDs, including 4 GI/Liver trained pathologists
Multihospital system recruiting for position at the AP core laboratory site, no travel required
Pathology and laboratory services are integrated across the Geisinger system with pathologists at different sites sharing a common workload in a sub-specialty model
AP-only night/weekend call, shared evenly with 15 pathologists at this location
Generalist frozen section coverage, shared with >12 pathologists at this location
Potential opportunities for leadership positions within the laboratory
Teaching responsibilities include medical students, residents, and fellows in pathology and non-laboratory specialties
Academic appointment available at the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine
Research opportunities available

Position Details
AP/CP or AP board certified
Fellowship training or high level of expertise in GI/Liver pathology
Additional experience in genitourinary, thoracic, or soft tissue pathology desirable
Good communication skills and commitment to collegial teamwork
Clinical translational research experience preferred, not required
Education
Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine- (Required)Certification(s) and License(s)
