Manager Marketing
Job Summary
The Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and leading the execution of marketing, communications, and digital engagement strategies that support organizational priorities and business objectives. This role partners with internal stakeholders, lines of business, and functional departments to translate business needs into integrated, results-driven marketing plans. Serving as a subject matter expert, the Marketing Manager drives complex initiatives in a highly matrixed environment. As a people leader, this role is accountable for building and developing a high-performing team through hiring, coaching, and performance management. The Marketing Manager ensures the delivery of measurable outcomes that advance strategic goals and support overall business success.
Job Duties
- Leads planning, research, and analysis to develop comprehensive marketing/communications/digital engagement strategies and annual plans for assigned lines of business or projects.
- Conducts complex work with extensive latitude for independent judgment and limited supervision; takes a broad perspective to identify solutions and works independently.
- Builds and develops a high-performing team through clear goals, regular coaching, structured development plans, and performance management.
- Leads workforce planning for assigned scope (skills, capacity, role clarity), partnering with leadership on staffing recommendations.
- Sets operating rhythms for the team (intake, prioritization, status reporting, retrospectives) to improve service levels and outcomes.
- Ensures consistent stakeholder experience by setting clear expectations, providing proactive communication, and maintaining SLAs and escalation paths.
- Keeps abreast of external and internal environmental trends and their impact on strategy; uses analytical and critical thinking to interpret data and respond to trends.
- Understands business objectives at the enterprise, business unit, departmental, institute, and regional level and applies that understanding to strategy and plan development.
- Understands target customers, personas, and customer journeys; advocates for customer needs and drives improvements across key moments.
- Identifies, evaluates, and recommends audience, market, product, program and/or service opportunities; translates needs into integrated strategies and plans.
- Owns performance management for assigned portfolio: defines KPIs, monitors results, and drives optimization recommendations; reallocates spend where appropriate to maximize impact.
- Tracks and reports process and outcome metrics (e.g., ROI, leads, conversions, referrals, revenue, awareness, share of voice, web traffic, social engagement) and turns results into clear actions.
- Works with leadership to develop, maintain, track, and meet budgets; operates as a fiscal steward to maximize return on investment.
- Maintains quality and brand standards; ensures work adheres to applicable regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Leads cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment to co-create and deploy tactical plans; uses department resources efficiently.
- Partners with dedicated project managers to implement plans and monitor progress.
- Leads department-wide initiatives that contribute to Marketing and Communications success beyond day-to-day responsibilities (e.g., playbooks, standards, process improvements, capability building).
- Presents recommendations, plans, status reports, and performance insights to stakeholders and leadership.
- Monitors for issues that may negatively affect Geisinger’s brand or operations; elevates risks early with recommended mitigation options.
Work is typically performed in an office environment. Travel may be required. Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.
