Job Summary

Supervises the technologists, the delivery of testing and related activities in the Vascular Lab and assigned outreach sites. Works with Operations Managers to provide administrative leadership assistance. Ensures compliance with the directives, policies, and applicable test guidelines, laws and regulations. Ensures equipment maintenance and inventory in a cost effective manner. Ensures efficiency of scheduling, problem solving, and delivery of high standards of patient care. Assists with Vascular Lab accreditation. Functions as an educational resource for vascular lab testing sites. Evaluates test procedures, techniques, and protocols for effectiveness and quality; maintains assessment of training needs, procedural compliance and utilization of equipment. Provides vascular lab testing as time permits; meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range on the assigned clinical areas; communicates and facilitates all procedural changes to technical staff.

Job Duties

  • Provides direct supervision to assigned personnel, assists with orientation and integration of new employees, builds a sense of pride in employees, and promotes good morale.
  • Coordinates personnel staffing to cover areas of service by vascular lab.
  • Performs diagnostic patient testing as described in the vascular lab technologist job description.
  • Supervises and instructs technical staff on vascular testing.
  • Provides orientation, training and competency documentation for vascular lab technologists and students.
  • Updates test guidelines to assure compliance with department protocols and Intersocietal Accredidation Commission standards.
  • Develops and maintains annual performance improvement plans for assigned personnel.
  • Monitors and evaluates incidents, ensures events are reported in Midas and assists with follow-up and improvement plans.
  • Directs and monitors ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements from the Regulatory Performance Improvement Department, Joint Commission, Department of Health, Intersocietal Accredidation Commission, and Infection Control.
  • Oversees and documents vascular lab test accuracy and quality assurance activities.
  • Maintains templates and guidelines for reporting vascular test results.
  • Creates and submits documentation for internal continuing medical education programs for Vascular Lab education conferences.
  • Manages vascular lab services for special projects, including vascular lab testing for research.
  • Ensures the use of appropriate exam codes, billing exceptions, modifiers and clarification of approved billing charges.
  • Provides input on equipment, supply and manpower needs, or other expenditures.
  • Manages safety, operational efficiency, and effectiveness and maintenance of equipment.
  • Troubleshoots picture archiving communication system imaging archival and issues related to routine data management.

Position Details

Exempt position: 7 - 330 pm

Travel to Scranton Office at least 1 day per week is required

No -On-call, Weekends, or Major Holidays.

Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)- (Required), Associate's Degree- (Preferred)

Experience

Minimum of 5 years-Related work experience (Required), Minimum of 1 year-Managerial/Supervisory (Preferred)

Certification(s) and License(s)

Registered Vascular Technologist - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
