MEP Commissioning Coordinator
Job Summary
Performs design reviews, evaluates specifications and submittals for compliance and acceptance for any construction or repair project. Monitors the installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of HVAC building systems, electrical systems, and mechanical fixtures. Commissions various components within these systems through verification testing and trials.
Job Duties
- Coordinates and directs the inspection, testing and acceptance of completed construction work.
- Assures compliance with national, state and local codes.
- Provides oversight and coordinates testing and performance evaluations of new or existing mechanical and electrical and and plumbing equipment.
- Collaborates with Mechanical design engineers and consultants to identify, define and solve design concerns and problems prior to construction.
- Acts as a resource during construction to identify and resolve issues in the process.
- Evaluates engineering proposals, shop drawings and design specifications for sound engineering practice and conformance with established safety and design criteria.
- Recommends approval or disapproval.
- Works with Supervisors, Managers, Construction Coordinators, Team leaders, contractor representatives from various trades, or outside commissioning agents to prepare testing schemes and sequences to properly test and trial equipment prior to final acceptance.
- Works with vendors, manufacturers and design engineers to interpret operating sequences and then provides training and instruction to Facilities Operation staff.
- Coordinates walk through and develops punch lists for construction projects.
- Identifies preventive maintenance requirements on large MEP equipment, Coordinates services or testing, tracks completion of outside contracted services for key preventative maintenance agreements.
- Collaborates with Facilities Operations personnel to identify, develop, plan and coordinate opportunities to increase energy efficient, improve patient safety and satisfaction, or increase reliability in critical infrastructure components across all MEP trades.
- Assesses electrical distribution systems.
- Maintains diagrams, Creates and then maintains records and documents of new equipment acceptance testing and equipment standards drawings and sketches of distribution systems.
- May be called upon to assist Facilities Operations staff with trouble shooting equipment, root cause failure analysis, or identify opportunities to improve reliability.
- Provides technical assistance and resolution when mechanical engineering problems are encountered before, during and after construction.
- Performs maintenance and repairs in emergent situations which are within the technical capability of this person, or directs subordinates too perform this work in a safe and timely manner.

Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)- (Required), Bachelor's Degree- (Preferred)Experience
