Physician Informatician
Job Summary
The Physician Informatician supports the transformation of care through systems and processes delivering improvements in quality, safety, efficiency, and service across the continuum of care.
Job Duties
- Serves as a clinical informatics liaison to clinical and information technology staff, clinical departments, committees, work groups and advisory groups.
- Collaborates with clinicians and information systems on the optimization of clinical practice workflow and practice including the creation of required clinical content, protocols, workflows and related system usage.
- Champions a clinical informatics domain serving as the physician informatician champion for an assigned Institute to improve patient experience, clinical and/or operation workflows. Develops and documents a plan for the given Institute and demonstrate successful execution against the plan. Collaborates with Nurse Informaticians and other Relationship Managers.
- Leads marketing, learning and adoption efforts through presentations to Geisinger audiences. Presents at national meetings and/or publishes Health IT-related progress and discovery in peer-reviewed literature.
- Achieves Epic Physician Builder and Epic SmartUser certification. Actively builds in Epic and helps mentor other Physician Builders.
- Assists with training needs including providing pre-implementation, go-live and post go-live support for new Epic end-users. Assists with writing and presenting Tips & Tricks and other Efficiency materials.
Work is typically performed in a clinical and office environment. Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures. Position Details
Requirements:
- Must be actively practicing inpatient medicine (preferably hospital medicine)
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Clinical Informatics (preferred)
Education
Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine- (Required)Experience
