Job Summary

The Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program Director is responsible for development and oversight of all aspects of Geisinger’s School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography. The program director manages program operations including curriculum development, lesson plans, classroom/lab/clinical/simulation instruction, assessment, accreditation, student support, clinical coordinator oversight, supervision, leadership, community outreach, and maintenance of internal and external partnerships.

Job Duties

  • Ensure initial and then ongoing program accreditation and assessment processes by satisfying Joint Review Committee standards for Diagnostic Medical Sonography for all offered programs
  • Consistently reviews and aligns policies and procedures with CAAHEP Standards and Guidelines for Diagnostic Medical Sonography,  CAAHEP Standards and Guidelines for Diagnostic Medical Sonography Policies and Procedures, and  JRC- DMS policies and procedures.
  • Participating in program budget planning.
  • Didactic and/or clinical instruction.
  • Maintaining current expert knowledge of the professional discipline and educational methodologies through continuing professional development.
  • Oversight and evaluation of clinical instructors and/or adjunct faculty of the program.
  • Responsible for complying with the terms of the Bloomsburg University and Geisinger collaborative agreement, serves as a liaison between Bloomsburg University and Geisinger, and supports Bloomsburg University's requirement to comply with the state system of higher learning requirements.
  • Serves as a liaison between Geisinger and other clinical affiliates or other similar collaborations in all matters related to coordinating student clinical observations and/or rotations.
  • Responsible for course outline, goals, and objectives development.
  • Recommends and procures instructional materials and aids for the school and instructors.
  • Delivers classroom instruction and demonstrates technical aspects and theory in clinical or laboratory settings.
  • Plans and oversees accreditation site visits.
  • Coordinates Advisory Committee activities.
  • Maintains the order and confidentiality of student educational records.
  • Oversees student compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Serves as the first level of management in resolving student concerns, and responsible for coordinating the student concern and grievance resolution process.
  • Responsible for management and oversight of  candidate interview and student selection processes.
  • Coordinates graduation program.
  • Provides career presentations representing diagnostic medical sonography in coordination with HR, system leadership, and other stakeholders

Position Details

One of the following certifications is needed upon hire:

  • American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)

Education

Master's Degree- (Required)

Experience

Minimum of 2 years-Clinical (Required), Minimum of 2 years-Education (Required)

Certification(s) and License(s)

Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS); Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI); Sonography (S) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
