RN - Registered Nurse Per Diem - Vascular Access Team
Job Summary
The Vascular Access nurse assesses patients for appropriate vascular access intervention working in conjunction with the rest of the care team members to meet the needs of the patient. Promotes and delivers safe, quality care and maximizes patient satisfaction. Exhibits compassionate care during patient-nurse interactions. Coordinates patient care for discharge needs and communicates with staff regarding same. Meets the qualifications to provide vascular access care as a member of a reliable, competent Vascular Access Team. Responsible for ensuring the best patient and family experience by optimizing all interactions.
Job Duties
- Provides direct patient care for infusion needs and will be responsible for the following tasks:
- PICC and midline insertion using ultrasound guidance
- Central line dressing changes
- Collaborate with Infection Control Team regarding existing lines to prevent CLABSI
- Removal of central lines
- Safe and competent peripheral IV access hospital wide (including ultrasound guided)
- IVAD (mediport) access
- Blood draws via central lines including outpatients
- Troubleshooting for line issues
- Administration of TPA for catheter clearance
- Patient education regarding line care and maintenance
- Staff credentialing for IV placement

Schedule Details:
Per diem expectations include working 24 hours in a 4 week schedule, 8 of those hours required to be worked on an evening, night weekend or holiday shift.
