RN - Registered Nurse Quality and Safety

Job Duties
Participates in the development, implementation and maintenance of a system-wide quality and safety program with responsibility for the functional components of the program, including auditing, chart review, staff competency, simulation and drills, education, and interface with other clinical departments.
The successful candidate must have at least five (5) years of RN work experience. In addition, a BSN is required. This role is Monday through Friday from 7 am to 3 pm, Exempt (salaried) and may require some travel.
- Provides guidance and operational support of quality improvement activities.
- Identifies, recommends and implements systems and processes in collaboration with department clinical leadership to improve the quality and safety practices of the division.
- Provides education to department staff including providers on quality and safety standards, practices, and policies.
- Ensures that safety rounds are systematically performed in all areas within the system.
- Tracks compliance with safety rounds, identified issues and collaborates with appropriate team members on resolution strategies.
- Recommends action plans including education, workflow and policy changes, and other improvements as appropriate.
- Participates in all regulatory surveys as requested by the department and leadership.
- Responsible for assuring that appropriate records, audits and action plans are maintained for quality and safety initiatives.
- Participates in the development, review and revision of policies and procedures.
- Assures the performance of concurrent and retrospective medical record review including: review of provider progress notes and nursing and other clinical documentation, laboratory data, radiology and imaging reports, surgery reports, etc., to identify potential quality and safety improvement opportunities.
- Communicates these opportunities to along with recommendations, timelines and action plans for improvement.
- Establishes and maintains tracking systems for quality and safety indicators.
- Travels to various hospital and sites throughout system and interacts with key team members on a regular basis.
