Pharmacy Manager- Purchasing
Job Summary
Provides leadership and direct supervision to the purchasing staff including the Pharmacy Buyers and Pharmacy Account Specialists This includes the centralized pharmacy purchasing team. Ensures that medications are procured in an efficient, timely, and cost effective manner and ensures all invoices are completed in a timely manner. Provides oversight to the Pharmacy account Specialist and their role in contracting and licensing.
Job Duties
- Manages procurement processes across all products and services.
- Maintains responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Pharmacy Buying team to ensure streamlined, efficient, accurate, and timely processing of all requisitions.
- Assists with the administration of relationships with all suppliers to ensure the best advantage of value-add services.
- Works with the pharmacy wholesaler and vendors to ensure medication delivery is uninterrupted, accurate, and timely.
- Assists with contract development and compliance
- Understands the relationship and commitment to 340b and GPO contracts
- Coordinates medication purchasing activities for the system.
- Analyzes productivity and accuracy of purchasing staff and implements education as required.
- Assures the timely research and reporting of information related to product standardization activities.
- Remains knowledgeable and current in market conditions and healthcare trends affecting procurement within Geisinger, including product availability, pricing, and federal and state laws, regulations and programs which impact costs, payment, and procurement.
- Maintains thorough understanding of all legal aspects of contracts.
- Serves as a super-user for the inventory system and leads upgrades projects as well as other projects relating to the computerized purchasing system and emerging technologies.
- Coordinates receiving and inventory product management in the electronic inventory system
- Works collaboratively within the Procurement and Contracting team on cost saving opportunities
- Collaborates with the team to help assist in the management of drug shortages
- Works collaboratively with the 340b team to best optimize 340b savings
- Serves in a leadership capacity for the Pharmacy Account Specialists
- Responsible for the oversight of all vendor statements to ensure timely invoicing
- Responsible for the daily oversight of the electronic recall system to ensuring recalls are processed in a timely manner and ensures all recall notices are distributed to all locations. Responsible for the oversight of pharmacy licensing.

Bachelor's Degree- (Required)Experience
