Job Summary

Geisinger is pleased to share an opportunity to join our dynamic team as the Chief Administrative Officer for the Western and Northcentral Regions. This position’s scope includes programmatic, operational and financial oversight for 3 hospital campuses and 2 Healthplex sites within Geisinger’s Western and Northcentral regions. This pivotal role offers a unique opportunity to join our executive leadership team and spearhead transformative advancements in system-wide initiatives related to standards of high-quality care and operational excellence. 

Job Duties

This position is accountable for the successful programmatic, operational, and financial management of the regional or platform operations (hospitals, outpatient facilities, ambulatory surgery centers) and for ensuring the maintenance of system-wide standards related to physician, program, and nursing standards. Lead, direct, and ensure coordination of operations of hospital and its related clinics.

The North-Central Region is comprised of:

  • Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital, Jersey Shore, Pa.

  • Geisinger Medical Center Muncy, Muncy, Pa(a joint venture of Geisinger and Highmark)

The Western Region is comprised of:

  • Geisinger Lewistown Hospital, Lewistown, Pa.

  • Geisinger Healthplex State College, Port Matilda, Pa(a campus of Geisinger Lewistown Hospital)

  • Geisinger Scenery Park, State College, Pa.

*The successful candidate for this position must reside or relocate within the regions in which they will oversee.

  • Provides the vision and direction that aligns the assigned region or platform with the missions and goals of the clinical enterprise and the System overall.

  • Leads the day-to-day operations of all assigned affiliates and and or clinics; ensures system-wide standards related to high quality care are provided by maintaining System physician, programmatic, and nursing standards.

  • Assures the sound fiscal operation of the assigned region or platform while promoting services produced in a cost-effective manner; ensures compliance with regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies while continually monitoring service and delivery system.

  • Actively participates with the System and non-System medical staff and executive and senior management in the development and implementation of strategic plans.

  • Proactively establishes and maintains communications, positive relationships, and a culture of collaboration with non-System medical staff and supports the development of opportunities that promote cooperation and a coordinated effort to accomplish mutual goals.

  • Participates in the successful recruitment and retention of System and community medical staff in order to ensure the ongoing and future success of the assigned region or platform.

  • Works with System leadership to provide an integrated patient care system that is facile, responsive to patient and caregiver needs, efficient, safe, and produces outstanding clinical outcomes.

  • In conjunction with System leadership, analyzes current and future market conditions and evaluate the System’s competitive position; develops and implements strategic objectives and tactical plans that maintain the System’s competitive position in the health care market.

  • Establishes and attains challenging and achievable patient care, safety, education, and community service goals while ensuring financial viability.

  • Fosters a culture of service excellence with the goal of establishing the System as the provider and employer of choice.

  • Effectively engages and establishes strong positive working relationships with employees, medical staff and others in the System as well as in the community.

  • Develops a positive work environment dedicated to teaming, respect, and communication; supports personal growth and development of people; and maintains an active succession plan for all key positions.

  • Establishes and effectively manages appropriate operating and capital budgets for responsible areas.

  • Implements and sustains a program for continuous performance improvement.

  • Ensures effective public relations, including relationships with other providers, both internal and external to the System, and other relevant constituencies and various publics.

  • Participates in continuing educational programs to expand knowledge of professional discipline; participates in health related associations to maintain expertise and promote the interests of the assigned region or platform.

  • Work is typically performed in an office environment. Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures. Education

Master's Degree-Business Administration/Healthcare Management (Required)

Experience
