Operating room Aide
Job Summary
Performs a variety of operating room support and operating room cleaning duties. Follows special cleaning and trash handling techniques, as required. Provides a sanitary and aesthetically pleasing environment by physically removing and reducing microorganisms through manual cleaning. Transports patients and equipment throughout the Medical Centers and Clinics.
Job Duties
- Maintains supply and stocks supplies and linens.
- Documents temperature readings of all fluid and blanket Warmers.
- Takes appropriate action if temperatures are out of acceptable range daily.
- Assists with the lifting and transporting of patients.
- Assists with delivering supplies as needed to operating rooms.
- Dry mops and damp disinfects all aspects of assigned areas.
- Disinfects operating rooms upon completion of surgical procedures as designated by the infection control policies.
- Collects trash and waste, and soiled linen.
- Relines containers with bags.
- Handles trash and soiled linen and transports trash to designated area as designated by infection control policies.
- Reports maintenance repair needs and unsafe conditions to coordinator.
- Reports the finding of misplaced patient belongings or hospital equipment to the appropriate parties, i.e. Nursing or Security.
- Assists in moving equipment and operating room beds.
- Prepares stretchers and beds for post-op patients.
- Participates in Joint Commission mandated educational programs.
