Assistant Dean for Health Equity and Inclusion
Job Summary
The Assistant Dean for Health Equity and Inclusion will play a pivotal role in shaping and advancing the institution’s commitment to health equity, accessibility, inclusion, and belonging. This leadership position supports program development provided by the Center for Health Equity and Inclusion. The leader also champions the maintenance of an inclusive and respectful environment for students, faculty, and staff within the Geisinger College of Health Sciences community. This is a part-time position requiring 0.5 FTE.
Job Duties
- Collaborate with leadership to integrate health equity and inclusion goals into the overall mission and strategic plan at Geisinger College of Health Sciences (GCHS)
- Serve as an advisor to faculty and staff on issues related to health equity, social justice, accessibility, and universal design
- Apply continuous quality improvement to curricular content and institutional programming aimed at addressing health inequities and promoting holistic clinical care
- Develop and deliver content that integrates health equity principles into the educational curricula across GCHS
- Support initiatives that deliver equitable recruitment, retention, and success of students, trainees, staff, and faculty, including strategies that mitigate unique concerns experienced by those underrepresented in medicine
- Develop and manage programs that enhance cultural intelligence, advance cultural and psychological safety, alleviate adverse biases, and sustain inclusive practices
- Establish partnerships with internal and external stakeholders that support health equity and inclusion initiatives
- Collaborate with academic departments and community-based organizations to foster an inclusive and equitable clinical learning environment
- Host regular office hours to address concerns, provide support and offer guidance to students
- Offer mentorship and career development advice to students, with expertise to address atypical concerns experienced by those from underrepresented, historically excluded and minoritized

- Collect, analyze, and report on data related to people and culture within Geisinger College of Health Sciences
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of health equity initiatives and programs
- Provide support and resources to individuals and groups experiencing mistreatment and/or discrimination
- Advocate for policies and practices that support health equity, inclusion, and accessibility
- Provide regular updates and reports to Vice Dean on progress and outcomes

Position Details
Travel Requirements:
- Will need to travel to other regional locations 1/month or will need to travel to different facilities for meetings ad hoc
Highly Preferred:
- MD/DO; experience in diversity, health equity and inclusion for medical school admissions and medical school curriculum; faculty advising
