Job Summary

Evaluates, measures, fits, and adjusts selected prefabricated lower extremity, upper extremity and spinal orthoses.

Job Duties

  • Assists the orthotist with the patient’s condition and in determining the needed treatment.
  • Elicits the patient’s interpretation of the current situation and their expected outcome for the orthosis.
  • Participates in the implementation of the treatment plan provided.
  • Communicates with the prescribing physician to clarify the prescription and discusses other possible options.
  • Uses the appropriate prefabricated orthosis that will fulfill the prescription and provide the desired outcome.
  • Measures the patient.
  • Fits the patient with the selected orthosis.
  • Adjusts the prefabricated orthosis as necessary to achieve optimal fit and function according to the plan of care formulated.
  • Provides instruction to the patient and family on proper use and care of the prefabricated orthosis.
  • Provides appropriate follow-up care after fitting, including adjustments and repairs.
  • Troubleshoots, repairs, and adjusts prefabricated orthoses.
  • Assists the orthotist with the patient’s condition and in determining the needed treatment.
  • Elicits the patient’s interpretation of the current situation and their expected outcome for the orthosis.
  • Ensure prescription for orthotic device is present in the electronic medical record

Work Schedule:

  • Hours- Between 8am-5pm
