Job Summary

Serves as the program administrator for and directly oversees Substance Use Navigator (SUN) Personnel at multiple Geisinger campuses working to engage patients with a Substance Use Disorder into a form of evidence-based addiction treatment. Manages SUN resources and assures patients are treated with courtesy, sensitivity, and respect, and that Geisinger works to connect all those presenting with SUD to the appropriate level of care and community resources.

Job Duties

  • Directly manages SUN personnel at multiple Geisinger locations.
  • Coordinates SUN schedules to ensure fair and even distribution of workloads and fully occupied, productive work hours, while also meeting the needs of the hospital.
  • Partners with campus physician and administrative leadership to drive continuous improvement in appropriate care and placement of those presenting with Substance Use Disorder.
  • Fosters a harmonious, collaborative, and recovery-oriented network between SUNS and contracted services, health plans, and community resources.
  • Partner with local Single County Authorities and payers to improve community access to substance use disorder treatment and harm reduction.
  • Trains direct reports in all aspects of their role and provides ongoing education and coaching.
  • Measures program outcomes and reports on key metrics to Addiction Medicine leadership and state governing agencies.
  • Ensures assigned personnel provide courteous, accurate, and efficient service to patients, physicians, and other medical center personnel in accordance with CICARE.
  • Ensures credentials & certifications of team members are up to date and kept on file.
  • Leads the interview and selection process for all new personnel.
  • Partners with Addiction Medicine leadership to develop SUN program and resources at all Geisinger campuses.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • This role may provide direct patient care in addition to their leadership responsibilities.
  • Acts as liaison with contracted CRS personnel and managers to ensure program quality and track outcomes.

Position Details

*Relevant experience may be a combination of related work experience and degree obtained (Associate’s Degree = 2 years; Bachelor’s Degree = 4 years).
