Supervisor Environmental Services
Job Summary
Supervises and directs assigned Environmental Services (EVS) personnel. Assures assignments are completed properly and in compliance with healthcare safety and sanitation regulations. Communicates with other departments to solve problems. Ensures a professional and appropriate service standard while performing the job. Follows and enforces system wide standards as well as department specific service standards.
Job Duties
- Supervises the daily operations of assigned Environmental Services staff performance and workflow.
- Verifies that each responsible employee's daily assignments are being performed thoroughly and effectively.
- Completes performance evaluations for assigned staff as well as coordinating the establishment of goals and objectives for assigned staff including annual skill competency checklist reviews.
- Responsible for the interview, selection process, hiring process, orientation set up, training set up, competency testing for all new hires.
- Responsible for the counseling and mentoring and discipline of employees.
- Recommends promotion, demotion, or termination when identified.
- Reviews and approves electronic timecards and scheduling systems for all responsible staff.
- Checks all hours, regular, overtime, holiday, PTO and FMLA.
- Schedules personnel to provide adequate staffing for assigned areas at all times.
- Delegates tasks and responsibilities to subordinate personnel as needed while assuring proper utilization of human resources and supplies.
- Supervises staff on all functions and processes provided by Environmental Services.
- Orders supplies as needed; obtains special items, as requested.
- Develops new metrics as appropriate or requested by leadership.
- Recommends process improvements to leadership and empowers employees to bring forward their process improvement ideas.
- Responsible for input to the writing, reviewing, and revising policy and procedures pertaining to the system Environmental Services department.
- Represents Environmental Services and Geisinger in a credible and professional manner at all times.
- Maintains advanced knowledge of the Bed Management system.
- Acts as Super-User and trainer for the staff and testing of new functions.
- Maintains advanced knowledge of all other environmental services data systems.
- Works to promote a team environment and open communication within the work area.
- Participates on and leads teams as needed.
- OSHA, Department of Health, and Joint Commission regulations must be followed.
- Conducts Cleaning Quality inspections of assigned areas as directed.
- Responsible to stand in for (or represent) the EVS Manager and EVS Director as assigned.
- Conducts staff meetings and maintains communication within departments.
- All EVS Staff who enter Medication Rooms (Where Applicable) must receive mandatory education on proper Medication Room protocol.

*Relevant experience may be a combination of related work experience and degree obtained (Associate’s Degree = 2 years; Bachelor’s Degree = 4 years).
Position Details
- Must be available to work four 10-hour shifts (Friday through Monday) -or- three 12-hours shifts (Friday through Sunday).
- Prior experience preferred (leadership, management, team motivation/team building, EVS/floor care experience).

Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)- (Preferred)Experience
