General Maintenance I
Job Summary
Provides general carpentry and painting to maintain, repair and renovate the physical structure. Provides basic HVAC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing services to efficiently operate facilities. Tests, monitors and operates equipment/chemicals for water supply. Removes snow using various types of equipment. Provides assistance to maintain grounds, as required.
Job Duties
Repairs a variety of mechanical, plumbing, electrical equipment and general building components.
Performs general carpentry in support of alterations and renovations.
Performs masonry tasks when necessary.
Installs dry wall, floor and ceiling systems.
Prepares all surfaces with joint compound, caulking and sanding.
Removes hardware and other items.
Places masking tape and drop cloths to protect surfaces.
Sets up scaffold and ladders for safe usage.
Applies paints, stains and varnishes to various surfaces using brushes, rollers and spray guns.
Returns finished area to working order.
Uses and maintains equipment for snow removal.
Equipment may include truck-mounted snow plow, tractor-mounted snow plow, snow throwers, shovels, brooms, etc.
Checks fluid levels.
Performs minor equipment repairs when necessary.
Performs preventive maintenance and equipment checks, including: fire extinguishers, air filter cleaning and changes, belt changes and lubrication of rotating equipment.
Repairs a variety of mechanical, plumbing, electrical equipment and general building components.
Installs, maintains and repairs plumbing fixtures, domestic water piping and equipment, and steam piping and distribution equipment including valves and radiators Installs, maintains and repairs sanitary drains, sewers, holding tanks and sewage pumps.
Installs, maintains and repairs electrical conduits, raceways, wires and cables and circuit breakers for the supply of electrical power.
Runs computer and other non-protected cables.
Replaces light bulbs and lamps as required.
Removes snow and ice and spreads salt.
Mows and trims lawns and field areas.
Prunes hedges and trees.
Cleans litter.
Rakes leaves.
Cleans roadway drains, gutters and roof drains.
Uses and maintains equipment for snow removal and grounds keeping, as required.
Equipment may include truck-mounted snow plow, lawn mowers and tractors, trimmers, and chain saws, rakes, brooms, etc.
Checks fluid levels.
Perform minor equipment repairs when necessary.
Maintains all tools and equipment in safe and operable condition.
Reports problems to supervisor.
Maintains accurate daily records of time and materials.
Communicates, works with and assists other maintenance team members as needed.
