Job Summary

Manages nursing, technical, clerical personnel, and volunteers in the successful completion of daily operational activities. Works closely with physician leadership to facilitate efficient and high quality daily clinical operations. Leads teams of assigned outpatient units with responsibility for all operational functions of the teams. Responsible for developing and initiating improvements in the organization and delivery of high quality, cost effective patient care services. Responsible for overall quality of assigned outpatient units and outreach sites. Performs and upholds policies and procedures; meets the minimum qualifications to provide care for patients in the clinical areas; responsible for all regulatory requirements of assigned areas; supervises staff to ensure quality of patient care and maximize patient satisfaction at all provider sites. Facilitates communication horizontally within the functional areas.

Job Duties

  • Oversees all aspects of the outpatient unit performance which includes operational, financial and statistical.
  • Identifies and resolves discrepancies or concerns.
  • Supervises employees in assigned areas.
  • Leads the monitoring of patient satisfaction, access, cost per unit service, and other measurable parameters that represent indicators of cancer service line performance improvement.
  • Oversees the performance and duties of the staff within area of expertise.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the job and functions of the team.
  • Continually seeks out new information, technologies and methodologies to improve overall performance for the various service line sites.
  • Accepts responsibility and accountability for job performance, the operations of the cancer service line areas and the appropriate management of the performance and behaviors of the staff.
  • Serves as a role model and support person in the delivery of quality patient care.
  • Establishes quality expectations and works with Human Resources to hold staff accountable when appropriate.

  • Structures work assignments to appropriate level to most effectively use resources; adjusts as needed.
  • Identifies opportunities for new technology and anticipates future needs for personnel and equipment.
  • Responsible for the coordination and management of the fiscal activities of the assigned service areas including budget preparation and control, billing information and procedures, revenue crediting, expenses discrepancy, cost efficiency, cash flow issues and budget variances.
  • Effectively empowers team members.

  • Acts as mentor, teacher and coach to others; actively uses the team performance management process.

  • Ensures all required quality improvement and quality control documentation is completed for assigned sections.
  • Reviews and takes action on problems identified on Press Ganey Reports.
  • Have knowledge of and insures compliance with all regulatory and accrediting requirements Recruits and interviews applicants.
  • Participates in selection process for all team members.
  • Monitors staffing, vacation scheduling, cross-training activities, etc., with other team members as needed and required.
  • Reconciles all payroll time sheets.
  • Coordinates and conducts departmental orientation with all new team members.
  • Coordinates performance evaluation process for all team members.
  • Gathers and evaluates input regarding employee discipline prior to implementing to insure fairness and standardization throughout department.
  • Acknowledges and communicates employee contributions and growth consistent with the goals of the organization and department.
  • Provides training to team members.
  • Works effectively to achieve individual, team and organizational goals.
  • Fosters a positive work environment for others.
  • Demonstrates and promotes high standards; role models these for others.
  • Provides coverage in the clinic as required due to staffing issues related to vacation time, unscheduled sick time, extended clinic schedule hours, and on call after hour coverage.
  • Daily audits all billing charges generated in the radiation oncology clinic for accuracy and adequate documentation.
  • Generates the billing export files to both IDX and Siemens billing systems.
  • Compiles daily statistical report for the department.

Education

Bachelor's Degree-Radiologic Technology (Required), Master's Degree-Healthcare Related Degree (Preferred)

Experience

Minimum of 5 years-Managerial/Supervisory (Required)

Certification(s) and License(s)

Certified Radiology Technologist - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
