Physician Surgical Oncology
Job Summary
Geisinger is seeking a board-certified/board-eligible Surgical Oncology Physician to join our growing and dynamic Department of Surgery. This role supports an expanding surgical oncology service line and offers the opportunity to work in a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary environment focused on delivering exceptional, patient-centered care. As part of an integrated academic health system, the successful candidate will engage with experienced surgical leaders, medical and radiation oncology partners, and a full spectrum of subspecialty services. This position offers meaningful involvement in a team-based model of care, with opportunities to contribute to program growth and innovation. Geisinger’s Department of Surgery is an academically driven environment, supporting a surgical residency program with multiple graduating residents each year, along with strong infrastructure for clinical research and scholarly activity. Physicians have the ability to participate in teaching, mentorship, and research initiatives, depending on their interests.
Job Duties
Position Details
- Practice within a tertiary care center offering strong subspecialty support
- Supported by a dedicated team including nurses, a Physician Assistant, and a nurse navigator
- Call schedule: 1 in 6 weekends
- Utilizes EPIC as the electronic medical record (EMR) system
- Opportunity to actively participate in program development and growth initiatives
- Primary location at GWV (Geisinger Wyoming Valley) with outreach responsibilities at CMC
- Open to both experienced physicians and new graduates
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree
- Board Certified/Board Eligible in General Surgery (and/or Surgical Oncology, as applicable)
- Completion of an accredited surgical and/or oncology fellowship required
- Eligibility for Pennsylvania medical licensure

- Fully paid relocation with generous PTO (4 weeks) and annual CME time (3 weeks)
