Job Duties
The Pain Management RN provides nursing care to patients in the Interventional Pain Center. Performs patient assessment, provides patient care in procedure room including patients with IV conscious sedation. Provides direct patient care in the recovery area including patient/family teaching.
This role is full-time, 40 hours weekly; Days; 8:30 am-5pm

Job Duties:
- Prepares unit to receive patients.
- Identifies patient using at least two different identification methods.
- Completes preparation of the patient according to defined procedure.
- Completes patient assessment for risks for falls.
- Prepares equipment and supplies for procedures using sterile technique.
- Cares for equipment before, during and after procedures or as needed in department.
- Performs intravenous starts and monitors intravenous therapy on designated patients.
- Performs point of care testing such as urine pregnancies or blood glucose on patients as needed.
- Administers medication, IV push medication and conscious sedation.
- Assists the physician in procedure room or whenever necessary in department.
- Safeguards the patient from dangers or hazards.
- Provides post-procedure care.
- Observes, interprets, reports and records signs indicative of changes in the patient's condition.
- Monitors patients having conscious sedation.
- Monitors, programs and refills medication pumps.
- Oversees scheduling of stimulator trial patients for stimulator education classes and also psych evaluations, prior to stimulator trial.
- Records appropriate information to monitor patients' needs prior to procedure.
- Monitors and assists patients with spinal cord stimulators.
- Provides appropriate patient education to patients and caregivers.
- Documents patient care in electronic medical record.
- Supervises activities of support staff including dedicated radiology techs.
- Adheres to requirements mandated by regulatory agencies Monitors refrigerator and blanket warmer temperatures daily.
- Performs daily code cart and intubation box checks.
- Assists with orientation, in-service programs and supervision of nursing students, new staff members, and dedicated staff members.
- Participates in Quality Improvement activities.
- Actively participates in patient safety improvement and management program.
- Assumes charge nurse role on assigned, rotating basis.
- Assigns staff to specific patient areas as needed, based on patient acuity.

Graduate from Specialty Training Program-Nursing (Required)
Experience
Minimum of 1 year-Related work experience (Preferred)
Certification(s) and License(s)
Licensed Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) - RN_State of Pennsylvania; Basic Life Support Certification - Default Issuing Body
