Step 1:
Employment References
Please check your inbox for an email that asks you to submit your references through our vendor called Skill Survey. Let your recruiter or HR Operations Coordinator know if you weren’t prompted to provide references.
Step 2:
Health Screenings
Ready to continue your onboarding journey? Your health is important to us here. To make this step seamless, we’ve comprised a checklist of our required health screenings for employees:

Drug, Nicotine and Health Screenings
Employee Health Department will make contact with in the next 1-2 business days. They will assist with scheduling your drug/nicotine & health screening.

MyChart
Sign up for MyChart prior to your appointment with Employee Health.
A link will be sent to the email you provided to Employee Health at the time of scheduling your appointment. (Note: this link is only valid for 24 hours)
Create a MyChart account and sign authorization forms.
Bring required items to your appointment.

Timing
Complete your MyChart account sign-up within 24 hours of scheduling appointment or link will expire.
Results of your appointment must be completed and cleared before your start date.
Step 3:
General Background Check
As part of the Onboarding, you’re required to complete a background investigation administered through Certphi Screening, Inc. which may include education verification. We may request a copy of your education documentation for review.

Step 4:
Workday Emails
Let’s keep this process moving! Prior to your start date, you will need to have your employee portal setup, so you can access our payroll system. We use a platform called Workday, which stores information like your direct deposit bank account numbers and healthcare benefits.

Look out for an email from Workday to perform important tasks such as:
I-9 | Direct deposit | Elect benefits
If eligible for benefits, you have up until 30 days after your start date to elect.

Questions?
Difficulty accessing Workday? You typically have Pre-Hire Access to our Workday platform at least one week prior to your hire date.
If you didn’t receive your temporary login/password for Pre-Hire Access to Workday, please contact your HR Operations Coordinator for your employee # and then use the steps outlined in the ‘forgot your password’ section.

Direct deposit: Complete ASAP
I-9: Complete the portion of your I-9 available in Workday prior to your I-9 appointment.
Step 5:
I-9/Badge Photo Appointment
With your start date just around the corner, it’s time to schedule your in-person visit to complete your I-9 employment verification and take your Geisinger badge photo. Check out the steps below to ensure this process goes smoothly:

A member of our team will contact you in the upcoming weeks to schedule your in-person visit.

Verification of ID
When reporting for your appointment, please bring acceptable forms of ID. See acceptable forms of ID

Timing
Appointment needs to be scheduled, no more than two weeks prior to your start date.

Appointment Location
Your HR Operations Coordinator will provide details about the location and answer any other questions you may have when scheduling your appointment.

First Day Plans
Hooray! It’s almost time for your first day at Geisinger. Your next steps are:

Your manager will share your Geisinger email with you on your first day of employment.
Step 7:
Receive Confirmation of Start Date
Thank you for getting started so quickly on the above checklist items. We’re looking forward to seeing you soon! Prior to your start date, you will receive a confirmation email from your HR Operations Coordinator.
Please Note:In order to begin employment on your anticipated start date, a full review of your pre-employment requirements must be completed by your HR Operations Coordinator. We will perform a final check at noon on Wednesday before your start date to be sure everything is “all clear” to join Geisinger. In the event that your documentation is not received within a timely manner and a review can’t be completed by this deadline, we will notify you and your manager of the need to delay your start date.
If applicable, we may also ask for verification of your license / certification.
