Job Summary

Geisinger Hospital is seeking a dedicated and skilled Infectious Disease provider to join our expanding team at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a collaborative environment focused on delivering exceptional patient care and advancing the field of infectious disease.

Job Duties

  • Diagnose and manage infectious diseases of all types and in all organ systems, including conditions requiring the selective use of antibiotics.
  • Interview patients to obtain comprehensive information such as symptoms, medical histories, and family histories.
  • Perform and interpret diagnostic tests as clinically indicated.
  • Design and implement treatment plans for injuries and/or illnesses; prescribe or administer medications as appropriate.
  • Prepare, maintain, and review patient records, including histories, examination findings, treatment plans, and outcomes.
  • Care for patients with AIDS, unexplained fevers, and those requiring preventive medicine or travel-related health expertise.

Work Schedule & Environment

  • Primarily inpatient care with 1–2 clinical days per week.
  • Work is typically performed in a clinical and office environment.

Position Details

Qualifications

  • Board certified or board eligible in Infectious Disease.
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient care and safety.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
  • Completion of residency and fellowship in Infectious Disease
  • Valid and unrestricted medical license
  • Prior experience managing complex infectious disease cases is preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
