Development Officer Senior
Job Summary
The Senior Development Officer will be responsible for advancing our mission by fostering strong relationships with friends, donors, and will generate philanthropic support from individuals, corporations and foundations by managing a portfolio of donors and prospects. **Candidates must be within a 2 hour radius of the Geisinger footprint**
Job Duties
- Develop specific individual strategy for cultivation of major donor solicitation and manage on-going relationships with major donors to close five, six and seven-figure gifts that reflect both the donor’s wishes and our needs.
- Prepare and implement solicitation strategies for assigned prospects, working independently and in collaboration with Board members and other key volunteers, physicians and administration.
- Track and manage information and strategies pertaining to the major gift portfolio, including timely and accurate documentation of conversations and contacts with donors, volunteers, Board members, physicians and leaders in Raiser’s Edge.
- Support the engagement of physician partners by providing information, processes and strategies to help initiate and grow physician referrals of grateful patients and families.
- Maintains regular strategic contact with staff on goals, initiatives, collaborative opportunities, stewardship, communications, and events.
- Engage current and prospective supporters in meaningful ways that engender engagement and philanthropy including, but not limited to, the preparation of strategies utilizing multiple touch points such as personal meetings, email, telephone, invitations to events and to donor cultivation events and other stewardship activity.
- Engage volunteers in prospect identification and evaluation process.
- Partner with colleagues to align philanthropic opportunities with strategic priorities and confirm spending plans for philanthropic funds for stewardship purposes.
- Ensures leadership is apprised of current issues and events in an ongoing, timely and appropriate manner.
Work is typically performed in an office environment. Travel may be required. Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures. Position Details
This position works with the leadership team of Foundation and the Geisinger School of Medicine to plan, coordinate, and identify program and fundraising needs and represent the interests of the Medical School to key constituents in the community.
