Job Summary

Responsible for driving Continuous Improvement throughout the organization and institutionalizing a sustainable, long-term plan using Lean principles and methodologies and other solution tools and frameworks in concert with the organization’s strategic plan; providing significant influence in creating an engaged and collaborative culture of continuous improvement. Ensures sustainability and cultural shift through development and delivery of lean skills transfer to leaders and staff. Links the strategic goals of the organization and continuous improvement focus to projects by enabling a consistent approach, standardized process, optimal resource management, and reliable tracking of all projects and continuous improvement work. Leads and partners with interdisciplinary teams, including senior leaders, through a meaningful change effort that improves patient access, reduces variation and achieves maximum quality.

Job Duties

  • Delivers value quickly and efficiently by leading implementation of continuous improvement and lean processes and tools where opportunities are detected, and where every employee is able to participate in and recognize improvement opportunities in their activities, and acts to eliminate waste and execute on solutions and projects.
  • Assists management in the assessment of risks in their operations and provides assistance with the development of action plans to address risks and opportunities for process improvement as well as enhancements to the control environment.
  • Develops reporting tools to keep management aware of risks that have been identified and tracks deliverables related to those risks where management has developed action plans.
  • Generates demand for continuous improvement opportunities providing training and transfer of lean skills including but not limited to tiered courses, and educational sessions geared specifically to leaders, staff and team members.
  • Leads formulation and testing of action plans during implementation and prior to management full implementation dates to ensure that management actions have been effective.
  • Prioritizes continuous improvement and lean opportunities appropriately, in conjunction key leaders tasked with implementing the organization’s strategic plan.
  • Coaches direct report improvement team members on continuous improvement and lean tools and corresponding quality tools and change management practices.
  • Mentors direct reports and team members to lead and contribute to their fullest potential by incorporating a continuous improvement and lean management system.
  • Directs continuous improvement and lean related strategic plan activities by targeting improvement opportunities to provide more time back to clinicians and staff members to spend with patients and members.
  • Partners closely with Operations to identify opportunities through the lens of the patient and member to achieve positive impacts that will enable achievement of performance standards and productivity targets via project implementation using continuous improvement and lean methodologies.
  • Assists management of operations with root cause analysis when requested or when opportunities are identified to improve the effectiveness or efficiencies of operations Assists in the coordination of meetings between operations and support services as well as the insurance operations, as needed, to address management actions plans, complete root cause analysis or assist with implementation plans.
  • Provides assistance to operations with data analysis and reporting.
  • The ongoing monitoring includes the periodic and timely reporting to management to ensure they are aware of the state of compliance.
  • Manages complex improvement initiatives that span multiple system areas over an extended period of time, and in ongoing coordination with senior leadership.
  • Provides project management guidance to operations during audit reviews, during the reporting phase and action plan development.
  • Develops standard key performance indicators for operations and processes to aid in transparency of operations for management.
  • Reporting of key performance indicators is available to management as requested and results of periodic testing are reported.

Position Requires: Master's Degree and Minimum of 7 years experience Managing people, processes, or projects.
