Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Job Summary
Provides strategic and operational leadership over the financial management of Geisinger. In partnership with the executive leadership team, will establish strategic financial, operational, clinical, and administrative goals and policies for the system. This position represents a unique and important role for Geisinger at a time of rapid change in the external environment. Works effectively in a highly matrixed and relationship-driven culture.
Job Duties
- Collaborate with the President and CEO and the executive leadership team to set enterprise-wide strategy, define the financial and non-financial objectives of individual entities and areas, and create a climate of accountability.
- Ensure that the drive to high quality patient care in a safe environment is paramount.
- Be responsible for the short- and long-term financial health of Geisinger.
- Lead the strategic financial planning for the system’s multi-year plan, annual budget, and forecasting; determine and set capital structure.
- Recommend to leadership the strategy for strengthening the enterprise through acquisition or divestment.
- Oversee and support the full range of health care financial functions including financial planning, reporting, and analysis; treasury; accounting services; revenue cycle; information services; mergers and acquisitions; strategic planning and business development; design and construction, and supply chain.
- Ensure that the operational and capital budgets are aligned with the institution’s strategies and goals.
- Develop and implement procedures, processes, and disciplines fundamental to maintaining a solid and reliable high quality and high control environment; cultivate an environment of collaboration, quality, responsibility, and accountability.
- Be responsible for the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of financial information provided to internal and external parties.
- Provide the professional leadership necessary to continue to enhance the best practices division, with superior customer service and strong relationships at all levels.
- Mentor and develop employees, including performance management and coaching.
- Drive a culture of transparency and collaboration.
- Facilitate the use of key performance indicators and metrics and drive the commitment to data-driven decision- making.
- Establish and support programs to address accreditation needs, and be accountable for ensuring appropriate Federal, State, and local regulatory agencies' requirements are met within the assigned areas of accountability.
- Maintains excellent working relations with banking institutions, bond rating agencies, governmental leaders, external auditors, and other key external peers involved in financial matters.
- Works closely with investment bankers, underwriters and consultants to review, develop and implement required external bond financing for Geisinger Authority.
- Develop systems and reports required to meet informational requests, optimize credit rating, develop and implement appropriate covenants, and establish sinking fund and other mechanisms to ensure repayment.

- Support an effective communications system that interfaces with the medical staff and other Geisinger departments and facilities to ensure total quality patient care.
