Privacy Compliance Specialist I (work from home Pennsylvania resident)
Job Summary
Performs varied advanced HIPAA Privacy Compliance, General Compliance, and Administrative duties which are related to regulatory standards, internal policies and procedures, initiative, foresight, judgment, organization, communication and creativity. Compliance and Administrative duties of the position include planning and coordination of activities of a given project to guarantee compliance with governmental regulations.
Job Duties
- Executes health system privacy audits and risk assessments in accordance with annual compliance risk assessment and Audit Committee work plan.
- Investigates and performs root cause analysis and risk assessments of privacy matters, including unauthorized disclosures.
- Works effectively with operations staff to implement effective mitigating and corrective actions to address identified compliance issues.
- Serves as internal expert and advisor regarding interpretation and application of privacy regulations.
- Effectively oversees and manages compliance projects, including regulatory implementations Prepares the Covered Entity for Office for Civil Rights Audits and maintain a state of audit readiness by performing OCR mock audit reviews on an annual basis to identify and mitigate new risk areas.
- Responds to and addresses privacy issues relating to business associates and vendors; Executes privacy compliance awareness activities to educate staff in coordination with the Privacy Officer.
- Investigates, documents, and resolves HIPAA privacy incidents and breaches in coordination with the Chief Privacy Officer.
- Maintains all required documentation in Privacy repository.
- Prepares regulatory notifications at the direction of Chief Privacy Officer Collects and maintains various statistical measurements used to documenting compliance and to prepare departmental and executive reporting May represent the Privacy Office on various committees and work groups at the direction of the Chief Privacy Officer.
