Prof Development Certified Medical Assistant
Job Summary
Responsible for supporting nursing clinical practice, budgetary personnel activities, regulatory activities associated with the clinical department, and professional development coordination assistance. Assures compliance with the directives, policies and applicable laws and regulations. Responsible for developing and initiating improvements in the organization and delivery of high-quality, cost-effective patient care. Graduate of an accredited 1-year certificate or 2-year diploma Medical Assistant program preferred. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assist (RMA) required. Certified by one of the listed governing associations required: NHA, AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, AAH, or AMCA.
Job Duties
- Participate in the development, organization, andimplementation of various programs focused on the professional growth, development, and competency ofambulatory nursing and nursing supportive roles.
- Assistsprofessional development supervisor with orientation, onboarding, ongoing competency evaluation and integration of new employees, including database management
- Maintains current knowledge base clinically and administratively through active participation inprofessionaland educational activities to enhance skills as an educator and clinical resource.
- Provideseducational reinforcement support as delegated by the ambulatory nursing leadership team
- Supports organizational and site-specific efforts for service excellence, financial accountability, quality improvement, and patient safety. Maintains documentation for fiscal impact tracing.
- Evaluates quality of care administered in assigned areas, makes rounds, and assurestimelycommunication of significant operational issues.
- Focuses on empirical quality outcomes related to clinical practice.
- Collaborates with Ambulatory Nursing Leadership team to support the department goals and Geisinger Nursing system strategic plan.
- Serves as a strong role model in professional practice asevidencedby strong relationships with staff and members of other departments, effective communications,appropriate resourceutilizationand sound planning skills.
- Communicates pertinent information as necessary within the ambulatory nursing structure
- Facilitates team-based problem solving within and between departments.
- Actively support Magnet philosophies such as a healthy work environment, professional growth and patient and family involvement in care decisions.
- Supports Ambulatory Nursing Leadership team with administrative responsibilities for departments as delegated.
- Contributes feedback related to the development, maintenance, and implementation of policies and procedures
- Serves as a clinical resource,assistingnursing personnel in attending toidentifiedpatient and family needs, obtaining equipment and patient care items as necessary, and to answer questions and solve problems within the department and the institution.
- Performs all clinical duties of Certified Medical Assistant.

Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 4: 30 p.m.
Weekends: None
Travel: Yes, to other regions as required. Details will be discussed in interview process.
Required Experience: CMA Certifications and 1 year experience
