System Director - Nursing Professional Development
Job Summary
The Director of Nursing Professional Development will work collaboratively with others in leading the efforts of nursing education across the Geisinger system. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the oversight of planning, development, implementation and evaluation of all nursing educational programs.
Job Duties
- Plans and directs the administration for all nursing educational programs and activities within the assigned health care setting(s), including nursing orientation and continuing education.
- Facilitates the continual assessment of nursing educational needs, including competency assessment of nursing staff; identified strategic and operational nursing education and development priorities, and establishes responsive training and development strategies, plans and projects.
- Manages the identification and implementation of evidence-based methodologies and, or best practices, directs the development of programs based on the American Nurses Association (ANA) Standards, and promotes teaching and learning which maximize engagement and professional practice.
- Serves on committees and participates in interdisciplinary meetings to represent nursing education.
- Partners with nursing workforce management, nursing excellence, nursing research and other teams to foster collaborative engagement and high-quality educational delivery programs.
- Directs the educational curriculum used within nursing orientation and onboarding.
- Designs and utilizes tools to evaluate achievement of education, quality and safety goals for all educational programs.
- Maintains knowledge of healthcare issues, change theory, adult learning theory, professional nursing and other clinical disciplines, continuous performance improvement capabilities and remains relevant in clinical practice.
