Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range on their assigned clinical area.
Job Duties
- Prepares patients for examination.
- Explains procedures to patients while performing studies.
- Correlates patient's clinical history with test to be performed.
- Consults with physician regarding patient's previous history and decision of appropriate ultrasonic procedures required.
- Performs obstetrical ultrasound studies, including targeted scans and fetal echocardiography.
- First trimester screen, biophysical profiles, umbilical, and MCA Dopplers.
- Operates complex ultrasound equipment pertinent to departmental needs and equipment operating standards.
- Selects proper transducer frequency and study type for performance of the examination.
- Recognizes the significance of all structures that are visualized.
- Differentiates artifact from normal or pathological processes.
- Determines if the anatomy is normal or abnormal.
- Delineates the abnormality and extends the scope of the study, if appropriate.
- Provides technical and nursing aid for procedures.
- Assists physicians with invasive procedures.
- Participates with physicians in diagnostic impression.
- Contributes technical and professional knowledge to the final diagnostic impression or report.
- Performs quality control tests of equipment.
- Immediately notifies the technical specialist of irregularities.
- Notifies the technical specialist or appropriate maintenance personnel of equipment malfunctions according to procedure.
- Maintains positive interpersonal relations with patients, physicians, employees, other departments and vendors.
- Maintains Image and Data archiving.
- Communicates and works as a team player with clinic support nursing for the benefit of the patient.
- Schedules and completes Ultrasound exam in the radiology information system and picture archiving communication system.
- Ensures compliance with all mandated regulations set forth by Joint Commission, Department of Health, and Infection Control.

Graduate from Specialty Training Program- (Preferred)Experience
