Job Summary
Distribution Center Supervisor directly oversees the daily activities, workload balancing of the distribution center operation. Responsible for the development of efficient and streamlined distribution center operations for Geisinger. Supports the system efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction. Actively works to develop more efficient support systems / processes.
Job Duties
- Supervises the daily operations of assigned Distribution Center departments by observing staff performance and workflow.
- Verifies that each responsible employee's daily assignments area being performed thoroughly and effectively.
- Assures that all supplies are handled in accordance with Infection Control Policy and Procedure.
- Manages total adherence to all Federal and State statutes regarding warehouse operation including Joint Commission, DOH, Board of Pharmacy, DOT, FDA and OSHA regulations.
- Supervises all employee relations activities and actively participates in resolving employee problems and conflicts as appropriate for all assigned departments.
- Consults with Manager when necessary.
- Contributes in the hiring and termination of employees for all assigned departments.
- Ensures new employee orientation and training is completed for all departments assigned.
- Ensures all employee evaluations are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Create, implement and revise specific operations to maximize efficiency while minimizing waste.
- Work with end-users to ensure continuous customer satisfaction.
- Participates in the development, implementation and annual review of all departmental policies and procedures.
- Ensures all areas are within compliance of all departmental, health system and governing body policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Supervises staff on the processes of product receipt, requisition fills of pharmaceuticals, supplies, medical equipment, linen, and mail for the System; inspects containers for damage; compares packing list against purchase order and notes discrepancies and number of cartons; stocks shelves and stores contents according to appropriate procedures.
- Furnishes information on receipt status and related data to department personnel.
- Facilitates communication with supervisors and staff via formal meetings and informal interactions.
- Confers with department heads to ensure coordination of warehouse activities.
- Recommends process improvements to leadership and empowers employees to bring forward their process improvement ideas.
- Participates on teams as needed.
- Participates in the development, implementation and annual review of all departmental policies and procedures.
- Ensures all areas are within compliance of all departmental, health system and governing body policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Ensures the development of staff and all training needs are identified with appropriate training provided within acceptable time guidelines.
- Acts as a mentor for employees.
- Empowers employees by delegating responsibilities.
- Establishes and maintains in-services and programs to foster growth, interest and teamwork.
- Ensures compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies.
- Develops and maintains disaster/contingency plans to help ensure supply acquisition during emergencies.
- Understands and ensures staff is prepared to respond.

Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)- (Required)Experience
