Job Duties

Responsible for the planning, designing, implementing, and evaluating simulation-based learning for nursing student education.  Responsible for the management of the simulation space, coordination of activities across nursing program curriculums, and planning for future simulation needs. The Manager will have a faculty appointment and work in collaboration with course instructors, Directors and Assistant Directors of the Geisinger School of Nursing, and the Associate Dean of Nursing Student Education.

This role is full-time, 40 hours weekly; 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.

Candidates must hold an LPN or RN license.

A Bachelor's Degree in a related field is required, plus 3 years managing people, processes or projects and 3 years related work experience in nursing simulation is required. Certification from the Society for Simulation in Healthcare is preferred.

Candidates must meet standards for faculty appointment at GCHS.

Job Duties:

  • Manages overall use and integration of simulation resources to GSON curriculums.
  • Designs and implements simulation activities in collaboration with GSON faculty.
  • Coordinates the day-to-day activities and services of the simulation lab area, including, but not limited to, lab setup and tear down, management of lab equipment and supplies, and simulation implementation.
  • Facilitates data collection on learning outcomes and collaborates with faculty on disseminating findings.
  • Provides professional development for faculty and staff to effectively advance simulation as an innovative instructional method.
  • Develops, evaluates, and refines scenarios utilized for simulation experiences to include role playing, props, and dialogue that provide a realistic learning environment.
  • Designs and evaluates clinical simulation curriculum to ensure that expected competencies are being taught to students.
  • Ensures that instruction is consistent with national professional standards to ensure skill and knowledge competencies of graduates.
  • Ensures that the simulation center is clean, safe, and organized.
  • Develops and enforces policies and procedures to ensure the safe, effective, and efficient use of the simulation lab space, equipment and supplies.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend new lab equipment, materials, and scenarios.
  • Maintains lab equipment and repairs or coordinates the repair as required.
  • Responsible for the upgrades of all technology and equipment.
  • Directs and maintains inventory of supplies to support all instruction in the laboratory.
  • Provides technical expertise for all equipment including multimedia peripherals.
  • Functions as the responsible vendor contact for coordination and communication as it relates to equipment.
  • Responds to inquiries inside and outside of the organization; may work with outside organizations in relation to providing lab services.
  • Has direct input into costs and budgets for the simulation center.

    Education
