Preventative Medicine Physician
Job Summary
Certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine. At least 70% of time is spent on the control of environmental factors that may adversely affect health or the control and prevention of occupational factors that may adversely affect health safety. This specialist works with large population groups as well as with individual patients to promote health and understand the risks of disease, injury, disability and death, seeking to modify and eliminate these risks.

Public Health and Preventive Medicine Program Director
Geisinger Lewistown
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the strategic direction of the Public Health and General Preventive Medicine Residency Program.
- Maintain program accreditation in accordance with ACGME RRC and relevant boards.
- Recruit, interview, and select residents and faculty.
- Develop and implement resident performance evaluations based on ACGME Milestones.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum.
- Ensure faculty development and participation in scholarly activities.
- Oversee didactic education and ensure compliance with institutional requirements.
- Participate in research, scholarly activities, and quality improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- Specialty expertise and documented educational and administrative experience.
- Current certification from the American Board of Preventive Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Preventive Medicine.
- Current medical licensure and appropriate medical staff appointment.
- Minimum of three years of documented educational and/or administrative experience.
Accountability/FTE Allocation:
- The Program Director will report to the Chief Education Officer and Vice Dean GME of Geisinger Health System.
- The position is allocated at 0.5 FTE. The Program Director may practice in their specialty for additional FTE.
