Director Spiritual Care and Education
Job Summary
Designs, implements and directs the programming and curriculum for the Clinical Pastoral Education Program. Maintains compliance with national educational ACPE Standards. Provides leadership and sets direction for the Spiritual Care department in assigned areas. Manages employee performance of Chaplains, Chaplain Residents and Interns, and Volunteers. Manages daily operations while providing spiritual care to patients, families, staff and volunteers of Geisinger.
Job Duties
- Provides supervision and instruction of Clinical Pastoral Education students.
- Develops and evaluates CPE curriculum that provides high quality educational opportunities for students and excellent spiritual care for patients, families, and staff.
- Provides supervision and performance management for Chaplains, Chaplain Residents and Interns, and Volunteers of the Spiritual Care department.
- Provides spiritual care for patients, families, staff, and volunteers of Geisinger in an interfaith setting.
- Manages financial performance through budget oversight of monthly expenses.
- Recruits, hires, trains, and manages the human resources in the department, providing ongoing supervision, feedback, and evaluation of work performance.
- Acts as a community liaison with area clergy, participates in Ecumenical Community events, and plans events for area and visiting clergy.
- Plans, organizes and directs departmental operations, developing goals, objectives, policies, and procedures to further strategic planning and program development.

Education
